Persona

Persona

If you hold on too tight

You’ll lose

It’s like jumping straight into a whirling pool

Once you go in there

Just let it carry you

If you don’t then

You’ll drown

You can say I belong in a box

Just don’t place me inside

Every border

Is a thin and narrow edge

Every escapade

Is another holy grail

In a foreign realm

One foot in the secure

Will steer you wrong

Above the ruin and the wreck

I’m just a passing cloud

My frontier is everywhere

I lost the only language

I knew how to speak

I’m lacking three dimensions

As my words rise

Into the air

The rain drenches my dreams

And the ground drops further down

And I’m a run on sentence breaking off the page

I wore out the only shoes

That I knew how to walk in

Lacking real emotion

Unstable as the ocean tide

I’m an accumulation

Of phenomena

Like definitions

Written in a book

Of final chapters

That take me to the start

Of new beginnings

That take me to the end

Where my annihilation nears

With every single step

Rub my freedom

Against the rule

Let limitations liberate again

‘Til opportunities show up on the green

They never weigh a thing

Between here and nowhere all you’ll see

Are yellow traffic lights

I lost the only language

I knew how to speak

I’m lacking three dimensions

As my words rise

Into the air

The rain drenches my dreams

And the ground drops further down

And I’m a run on sentence breaking off the page

I wore out the only shoes

That I knew how to walk in

Lacking real emotion

Unstable as the ocean tide
